Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) have been used for decades in the manufacturing of fluorescent light ballasts, transformers, hydraulic equipment and other products. Several regulatory and advisory agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), have determined that there is sufficient evidence to consider PCBs to be carcinogenic in animals. In 1977, the EPA banned the use of PCBs because it was concerned about the potential harmful effects. In buildings constructed before 1980, it is probable that electrical components contain PCBs.
ALL-TECH Environmental Services can assess and audit PCB containing materials and provide recommendations to building owners as to the extent and condition of PCB containing materials. If required, we can initiate an assessment in your facility and manage an abatement project or preparations for Phase I and Phase II environmental audits.
